Indian God: The Story of Goddess Sati

The Indian god Sati is a daughter of Daksha who is a wish born son of Lord Brahma and His wife, Prastuti. It is believed that Sati was the rebirth of Ardha Shakti, the better half of Indian god Shiva which he had sacrificed to maintain the balance in the Universe and was thus destined to marry Lord Shiva.
Sati was determined to fulfil her destiny for which she went to the Himalayas to meditate and appease Lord Shiva. And pleased with her devotion, he agreed to marry her at once. Daksha was against the marriage but reluctantly gave his consent. After the wedding, Indian god Shiva and Goddess Sati moved to Mount Kailash and led a happy married life.
But Daksha felt insulted as he had to accept Lord Shiva as his son-in-law and decided to avenge his pride. So he organised a grand yagna and invited all the gods except Lord Shiva. Finding out about yagna Goddess Sati became furious at her father. She requested Lord Shiva to go there with her, but he refused. But Indian goddess Sati wanted to confront her father. She as his daughter wanted an explanation and said that he could not stop her from being welcomed into her own house. Lord Shiva sensed trouble and tried to stop Goddess Sati, but she did not listen to any warnings. When Goddess Sati reached her father’s house, Daksha welcomed her coldly. He then started to insult her husband in front of all the Indian gods. Infuriated by her father’s behaviour, goddess Sati declared that she would not tolerate any insult of her husband and Indian goddess Sati sacrificed herself in the same yagna, the sacrificial fire.
